Setting up Chase Paymentech Orbital (Salem / Stratus)

   Contact your Chase Paymentech sales rep or account executive and let them know that Foxy will be submitting on their behalf. Foxy is certified — if you're told otherwise, contact us so we can provide our Submitter ID.

   Go to the Foxy admin and go to Settings > Payments.

   Open or create a payment method set, then click Add payment method + and choose Chase Paymentech Orbital (Salem/Stratus).

   Enter your Chase Paymentech Merchant ID. These credentials are not the same as any credentials you use to access your Orbital virtual terminal elsewhere.

   Leave Username (optional) and Password (optional) blank unless you've been instructed to use them — see the notes below.

   You may need to set a terminal ID. Our implementation uses 001, which is the default. If you have a different terminal ID, enter it in Terminal ID (optional) under Live setup. Note that the equivalent field under Test setup is labelled Test Terminal ID (optional).

   Set Card verification as appropriate for your store. The options are Off, Enabled (auto) and Enabled (always). It defaults to Off, which the admin itself flags as not recommended.

   Click Create, or Save if you're editing an existing entry, then test.

Advanced features

Foxy is certified with Paymentech Orbital to process Level 2 Purchasing Cards. To take advantage of this, pass an input named purchase_order_number in the checkout form. Foxy passes it along to Orbital in the appropriate manner.

Important notes and caveats

Should you enter a user/pass?

In the past the username/password authentication method was not recommended. But as of 2019-03-21, according to Chase's certification document that Foxy completes, "User Name & Password authentication is Chase Paymentech's preferred method."

Chase Paymentech has two different ways to connect. An IP address based connection requires you to get Foxy added to your account as an authorized submitter. This should not be a problem, as Foxy is fully certified — more on that below.

Foxy is a fully certified VAR with Chase Paymentech. If there's any confusion about that, you can:

• ask your Chase rep.

We're often told that Chase reps say we're not certified. We're not sure why they seem to be confused on this point, but contact us and we'll help you get it sorted out.
