Set up expiring card reminder emails
How to configure Foxy to email customers before their card expires so they can update their payment method ahead of a subscription renewal.
Foxy can email customers before their card expires so they can update their payment information ahead of a subscription renewal — but this isn’t enabled by default.
How to set it up
Each number represents the number of days before the end of the month in which the customer’s card expires that a reminder email should be sent. For example, a schedule of 30, 15, 5 will send reminders 30, 15, and 5 days before the end of the expiration month.
Notes
This only applies to customers with an active subscription. One-time purchases are not affected.
Once a customer updates their card, no further expiring-card reminders are sent for that card.
The email includes a link that takes the customer directly to checkout to enter a new payment method.
Emails use your store’s standard email receipt template, with the
is_expiring_payment_reminderTwig variable set to true. See Customise subscription email templates for the related language strings (email_subject_expiring_payment_reminder,email_text_message_expiring_payment_reminder,email_html_message_expiring_payment_reminder).If your store is set to BCC transaction emails, a copy of each expiring-card reminder will also be sent to your store’s email address.
