Product management overview
How products work in Foxy, where they live, and the different supported product types.
In Foxy, products don’t live inside the Foxy admin — they live on your website. Foxy handles the cart, checkout, and payment, but your site controls how products are displayed and managed.
A product in Foxy is anything added to the cart via an add-to-cart link or form that you build and host on your site. There are no restrictions on product types, options, or complexity — if you can build the link or form, Foxy can handle the product.
Product types
Foxy supports three types of products:
Standard products are physical or intangible items sold as one-time purchases. These are created using add-to-cart links or forms. See Product management for details.
Downloadable products are digital files — PDFs, audio, video, software — that Foxy delivers securely after purchase. See Downloadables for details.
Subscription products are recurring billing products. Any standard product can be made into a subscription by adding subscription parameters to the link or form. See Subscriptions for details.
How products get into the cart
Products are added to the cart via a link or form on your site. Both methods pass product details — name, price, options, and any other parameters — directly to Foxy when a customer clicks.
Use a link for simple products with no customer-configurable options
Use a form when customers need to select options like size, colour, or quantity
See Create a product with a link and Create a product with a form to get started.
Notes
A single cart session supports a maximum of 250 products.
Each product supports a maximum of 100 custom options.
Product parameters are case sensitive.
Foxy does not manage a product catalogue — there is nothing to import into Foxy. Products are defined entirely by the links and forms on your site.
