Test your Google Analytics tracking with DebugView

How to confirm Google Analytics 4 tracking is working using GA4 DebugView.

After you set up tracking, confirm events are arriving using GA4's DebugView.

Before you start

Create a separate GA4 property to test with, so test transactions do not distort your real data.

In GA4, open Admin > DebugView (under the Property section).

Enable debug mode using the Google Analytics Debugger Chrome extension or Google's Tag Assistant.

With debug mode on, browse your site: add products to the cart and move through checkout.

Watch the DebugView timeline. You should see standard interactions plus the tracked ecommerce events (page views, add to cart, begin checkout, purchase, and so on), including the cart items passed with the ecommerce events.

Clear your browser cookies, or use a browser you do not develop in, so you test as a normal customer would.
