Shipping Overview

How to setup and manage shipping inside the Foxy admin.

Overview

Foxy provides several approaches to shipping, from integrated carrier rates to fully custom logic. You can mix and match these across your store's product categories, and Foxy will combine all applicable shipping costs when presenting options to your customers.

Shipping configuration happens in two places. At the store level, you define what's available (carriers, custom endpoints, free shipping options). At the category level, you choose which approach applies to each group of products and set options like flat rates and handling fees. See Shipping and Categories for a full explanation of how these two levels work together.

The available shipping methods are:

  • Live rates from USPS, UPS, and FedEx, configured store wide and enabled per category.

  • Custom Options for free shipping and customer pickup options for customers in your store's country enabled store wide.

  • Flat rates configured per category, applied once regardless of product quantity.

  • Handling fees per category, with multiple calculation methods (per shipment, per product, percentage based, or whichever is greater).

  • No shipping configured per category, for intangible, downloadable, or non shippable products.

  • Custom shipping endpoint to replace or augment built in rates with your own server side logic.

  • Custom shipping code to add, modify, or remove rates directly in the Foxy admin using JavaScript.

Because a single cart can contain products from multiple categories (each with its own shipping configuration), all applicable rates, flat fees, and handling fees are combined into the final options shown at checkout.

For stores that need fully custom or conditional shipping logic (tiered rates, coupon based free shipping, country restrictions, third party rate APIs), see the Custom Shipping Code and Custom Shipping Endpoint sections.

If your store integrates with a fulfillment service, see our integrations section for existing solutions like Order Desk.
