Set up a category discount

How to add an automatic quantity or value discount to a Foxy category so it applies to every product in that category.

A category discount is an automatic discount applied to every product assigned to a category. Tiers can be based on quantity or on order value. It is reflected in each product's per-item price. Category discounts work best when the category's items are similarly priced or you use a percentage discount.

Steps

    Go to the Foxy admin.

    Go to Categories.

    Select the category you want to discount.

    Under Category details > Handling Fees and Discounts, click Discount and enter a name to open the discount builder.

    Build the discount: IF [quantity or total] ≥ [tier] THEN [reduce or increase] [target] BY [value] [% percentage or ¤ amount] For category discounts, the default type is all units.

    Save the category.

Notes

  • The discount applies to every product assigned to the category, so assign products to the category to apply it.

  • To offer a discount only in some cases (for example, a members-only price), create two categories, one with the discount and one without, and add products to the appropriate one.

  • Category quantity tiers only count against products in that category. A tier of 5 will not apply if the category has only 3 matching items in the cart, regardless of items in other categories.

  • With a single type, the discount is distributed equally across the applicable products.

  • Category discounts appear in each product's per-item price, not as a separate line item.
