Place an order on behalf of a customer

How to place an order on behalf of an existing or new customer using Unified Order Entry (UOE).

Unified Order Entry (UOE) lets you place an order through the normal checkout flow while logged in as the customer, so they still receive their usual email receipts as if they'd placed it themselves. This requires a UOE password set up on your store.

Set up a UOE password

    Go to the Foxy admin

  2. 2

    Go to Settings > Checkout

  3. 3

    Find Unified order entry password

  4. 4

    Enter a password (or click the generate icon next to the field to create one), then save

Place an order for an existing customer

  1. 1

    Add the product(s) to the cart on your website

  2. 2

    Go to checkout and enter the customer's email address

  3. 3

    Paste the UOE password in place of the customer's own password

  4. 4

    Update or enter any needed info, then submit the order

Place an order for a new customer

  1. 1

    Add the product(s) to the cart

  2. 2

    Go to checkout and enter the customer's email address

  3. 3

    Enter the customer's information

  4. 4

    Check Save my address & payment info for next time and set a password if you want the customer to have an account, then submit the order

  5. 5

    To place the order without saving their details, leave that box unchecked and don't set a password

Notes

  • Afterward, let the customer know to reset their password: send them to checkout (https://your-store.foxycart.com/cart?cart=updateinfo), have them enter their email address, then click Forgot password? (this link only appears after the email is entered)
