If you haven’t noticed, we work hard on our security, compliance and infrastructure around here. Even though the vast majority of our users might not notice or care about the details on those pages, some will. We recently added a massive global Fortune 200 company to our users, and it took months for them to fully and properly vet us. (It actually was pretty easy, since most of what they cared about was our business stability and our security. Our PCI compliance documentation makes the latter really easy to prove.)
But even with all this, serving enterprise users has been interesting. We have no sales team and we do precious little marketing, yet enterprise users continue to find and use FoxyCart. Sometimes it’s a fully approved and vetted project, and we’re involved from the beginning to help demonstrate our compliance and stability. Other times it’s more of a “shadow IT” initiative, where the project lead may decide it’s better to build the proof of concept and ask for forgiveness (with a working system) than permission (which can take months).
We had all of this fresh in mind when we were contacted by Skyhigh about their new CloudTrust program. Skyhigh has an interesting focus on helping enterprises analyze their own shadow IT use. In their words:
Skyhigh identifies and classifies thousands of cloud services and provides an objective and detailed evaluation of the enterprise-readiness of each cloud service based on a detailed set of criteria developed in conjunction with the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA). The evaluation spans five categories:
- Data attributes
- User and device attributes
- Service attributes
- Business attributes
- Legal attributes
Unlike other business certification programs, however, CloudTrust isn’t pay to play. For us, that’s the most important thing. How many of us think the BBB is a joke or that Yelp ratings will forever be suspect because of their shenanigans? When choosing a restaurant, maybe it’s not a big deal. But when selecting a critical piece of business service in the cloud, reviews must be honest and unbiased.
Skyhigh’s approach in that regard mirrors our own. If you build trust by helping your users with honest answers, everybody wins.
With all that said, we’re proud to announce FoxyCart’s inclusion in Skyhigh’s Cloudtrust program. We’ve been added as an Enterprise-Ready provider, which is their highest ranking. Our hope is that our inclusion here will make it easier for everybody, not just enterprise users, to make accurate and informed decisions when it comes to selecting a solid ecommerce platform.
